Wort & Boil @ Salt King Brewing / Spokane Brewing Supply
Get ready for a first-of-its-kind brew day with Inland Brewers Unite! On Saturday, April 4th, the Spokane homebrewing community will gather for the inaugural Wort & Boil, a collaborative brewing experience hosted at Salt King Brewing. The brewery will kick things off by producing one full barrel of fresh, light-colored wort, creating the perfect blank canvas for creativity. When mash-in starts at 10:00 AM, the stage will be set for an experiment in brewing imagination.
Participants will split the wort into smaller portions and take it from there—boiling in their own kettles brought from home. From that shared starting point, every brewer can head in a completely different direction. Want a crisp hoppy pale? A Belgian-inspired twist? Something darker and maltier? The base wort is just the beginning.
Even better, the tools for experimentation are right next door. With Spokane Brewing Supply co-located with the brewery, hops, yeast, and specialty grains will be readily available and 15% OFF for the event! Brewers can grab ingredients on the spot, mill grains, and steep specialty malts to transform their portion of wort into something uniquely their own. It’s part group brew, part brewing laboratory.
Participation will be limited, so a signup will be required. The single barrel of wort will be divided into six splits of approximately 5.15 gallons each. Depending on interest, brewers may have the option to claim a double split (about 10.3 gallons) if space allows. The participation fee will be $15 per split. The grist bill for this event will be: 55 lbs of 2-Row Base Malt, 6 lbs of Munich, and 3 lbs of Acidulated, targeting a Pre-Boil Gravity (PBG) of 1.050 and an SRM of 4.8.

This event is open to all homebrewers. Club membership is not required (but club members may be given participation preference depending on the interest level).
