IBU CHALLENGE VII OFFICIAL RULES

A Pro-Am Competition with Project Craft Brewing

Theme/Requirements: Each participating brewer must brew a beer within a calculated IBU range of 40-70 bittering units. Each brewer will submit their beer in 1 of 3 categories, defined by SRM:

Category 1 – Pale Beer (SRM 2-8)

Category 2 – Amber/Red Beer (SRM 9-18)

Category 3 – Dark Beer (SRM 20-40+)

Your recipe and beer style is entirely up to you, save one requirement: Your recipe must show a projected IBU level between 40-70 bittering units.

All other aspects of the beer are completely open – but remember, our pro-brewery sponsors and those judging your beer will be looking for a brew that tastes great and stands out among all the other competitors.

You will submit your beer on the day of the competition when you check in at 12pm. With your beer, you MUST also submit a printed recipe sheetwith ingredient and process details. It should also show the calculated IBUs for your beer.

One Entry per competitor.

One Gallon of beer required for entry. Please submit the beer in 32oz “grunts” or bottles (750ml, 22oz, 12oz, etc.) for easy pouring. (Growlers will be accepted, but with menacing looks from the event organizers)

Awards & Prizes will be given for:

Best in Category: Highest Score in Pale, Amber/Red, and Dark Categories

Runners Up: Recognition for 5th Place through 2nd Place in overall competition score.

Best in Show: The highest scoring beer of the competition

Our sponsor brewery, Project Craft Brewery, will be selecting their favorite beer among the top 5 scoring beers to be brewed at their brewery with the winning homebrewer.

Entry is free for all current dues paying members. Non-members may participate in the tasting/judging for a fee of $10, which provides a 30-day membership to IBU.
